Ratings and Tasting Notes:
(RP=92) Disgorged in April 2018 with two grams per liter dosage, the NV Extra Brut l'Ascendant Solera is based on a solera established in 2010. Exhibiting aromas of ripe yellow orchard fruit, hazelnuts, mint and fennel seed, it's medium to full-bodied, with a fleshy core of crisp fruit, tangy acids and a precise, saline finish.
(AG=92) The NV Extra Brut L'Ascendant Solera is a rich, creamy, vinous Champagne built on textural resonance and nuance. The blend of 50% 2013 and 50% reserve wines going back to 2010 confers a good deal of flavor and complexity. Persistent and nuanced, L'Ascendant simply hits all the right notes. What a gorgeous wine it is. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2017.
(WS=88) Flavors of ripe, grainy pear, almond skin, spring blossom and lemon pith are expressive up front, though more subtle as they ride the satiny mousse, where minerally saline and toast notes lead to the clean-cut finish. Disgorged January 2017. Drink now.
