Ratings and Tasting Notes:
JS93-94 Really dark spices and very savory, minerally aromas here with very bright blackberries and black cherries. The palate has a succulent, fresh and very vibrant, dark-cherry and blackberry core. Dark chocolate and dark, stony notes to close. Barrel sample.
AG93 Lurid violet. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes pungent flowers, candied blue fruits, spicecake and Asian spices. Sweet, densely packed and precise on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cassis, allspice and violet pastille flavors braced by a core of juicy acidity. Seamlessly blends power and finesse and finishes impressively long and spicy; harmonious tannins add frame and gentle grip.
RP92 The 2016 Saint Joseph les Grisieres comes from old vines (60+ years of age). It's a dark, brooding sort of Saint Joseph, with lots of savory black olive and roasted meat notes. Medium to full-bodied, it's richer and more concentrated than the regular bottling but still approachable on release.
