Ratings and Tasting Notes:

(JS=92) A round and rich 2012 with berry and chocolate character. Hints of cedar. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink or hold.

(WS=89-92) Quite ebullient, with an almost-jammy edge to the core of boysenberry and blackberry paste notes, lined with toasted spice, anise and melted black licorice. A solid, rather extroverted style.

(RP=88) Tasted at the vertical retrospective at the property. The 2012 Château Dauzac, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, is a little more rustic than the 2011: more undergrowth scents here, complemented by mint and violet. The palate is medium-bodied, missing a little depth on the entry with the fruit not quite as ripe as the 2011, and it feels a little curtailed on the finish. Maybe this was one vintage of Dauzac where I was hoping for a little more. Tasted June 2015.
